About Crawley Bees
Local Honey from Crawley & West Sussex
Crawley Bees is a small, beekeeper-led local honey producer run by an independentCrawley beekeeper, producing raw, small-batch honey from apiary sites across Crawley and the widerWest Sussex honey farm landscape.
Every jar reflects the seasons, forage, and environment surrounding the colonies. Rather than blending honey from multiple sources, each harvest is carefully extracted and jarred to preserve its natural character, flavour, and provenance.
Meet the Beekeeper
I’m Simon — the beekeeper behind Crawley Bees.
What began as a personal interest in pollinators and sustainable food production has grown into a carefully managed local apiary focused on quality, transparency, and responsible beekeeping. Many customers searching for beekeepers near me or raw honey near me discover Crawley Bees because they want honey that is genuinely local, traceable, and produced with care rather than imported or industrially blended.
Alongside running Crawley Bees, I am actively involved within the local beekeeping community and currently serve as Chairman of the West Sussex Beekeepers’ Association, supporting education, bee welfare, and sustainable beekeeping practices across the region.
Our Apiaries
Today, I care for around 25 honey bee colonies located across carefully selected sites in Crawley and West Sussex. Each apiary is chosen for forage diversity, environmental stability, and minimal disturbance.
The surrounding landscapes — from gardens and parkland to hedgerows and woodland — influence the flavour, colour, and texture of every harvest, producing truly local honey shaped by place and season.
No two batches are identical, which is exactly how real honey should be.
Quality Over Scale
Crawley Bees operates on a deliberately small scale.
Honey is extracted in limited batches using low-intervention methods designed to preserve natural enzymes, aroma, and structure. The honey is gently filtered but never overheated or ultra-processed, ensuring it remains raw, natural, and true to the hive.
Production decisions prioritise bee welfare and long-term colony health rather than maximum yield.
Responsible Beekeeping
Responsible beekeeping sits at the heart of Crawley Bees.
Colonies are managed with a focus on sustainability, disease prevention, and seasonal balance. Hive management follows best-practice UK beekeeping standards, ensuring bees are supported through changing weather conditions and forage availability.
As an independent West Sussex beekeeper, Crawley Bees focuses on traceable, small-scale production — offering an authentic alternative to mass-market honey often sourced from multiple countries.
Why Local Honey Matters
Choosing local honey supports pollination, biodiversity, and sustainable food production within your own community.
By buying directly from a local producer, customers know exactly where their honey comes from, how it was produced, and who cares for the bees that made it.
Crawley Bees exists to reconnect people with real honey — produced locally, harvested responsibly, and shared directly from beekeeper to customer.
