1. Is your honey raw and unpasteurised?
Absolutely! All our honey is raw, unpasteurised, and minimally filtered to keep the natural enzymes, pollen, and unique flavours intact.
2. Where is your honey produced?
My honey comes from my own hives in Crawley and West Sussex, including Ifield Woods, Rowfant Trail, County Mall, and Deaks Lane (Haywards Heath). Each location produces honey with its own distinct taste and character.
3. Does local honey help with hayfever or allergies?
Many customers find that local honey helps with hayfever, thanks to the trace amounts of local pollen. While research is mixed, lots of our regulars say it eases their symptoms!
4. What’s the difference between your honey and supermarket honey?
Crawley Bees honey is single-source, never blended, and never heated or pasteurised. Supermarket honey is often imported, blended, and processed, which can strip away natural goodness and flavour.
5. Is your honey suitable for vegans?
Honey is not considered vegan by most definitions, as it’s made by bees. However, all our honey is produced with the highest standards of bee welfare and respect for the environment.
6. How should I store honey, and does it expire?
Keep honey in a cool, dry place (10–15°C) and out of direct sunlight. Raw honey lasts indefinitely if stored properly, though it may crystallise over time (which is perfectly natural).
7. Why does my honey crystallise, and is it still good?
Crystallisation is a natural process and a sign of pure, raw honey. Just place the jar in warm water to return it to liquid form — it’s still delicious and safe to eat!
8. Do you use chemicals or antibiotics in your beekeeping?
No, I never use antibiotics. We follow natural beekeeping practices and only use approved treatments for bee health when absolutely necessary, always prioritising bee welfare and honey purity.
9. Is your packaging recyclable or eco-friendly?
Yes! All our packaging is eco-friendly and fully recyclable, supporting our commitment to sustainability.
10. Do you offer different honey varieties or flavours?
Yes, we do! Each apiary produces honey with unique flavour and colour, and we also offer special infusions like Fire Honey (with chilli). Check our website or ask at markets for what’s in season!
